About Nuitsukasa Nagakusa
Nuitsukasa Nagakusa Inc. was established through the founding of Nagakusa Embroidery Ltd. in 1933 which was founded by Yoshinosuke Nagakusa. The first generation, Yoshinosuke, was not only a craftsman, but also a collector of Kyo-nui designs, and contributed to the development of Kyo-nui. The second generation, Toshiaki, has been restoring and researching cultural properties and has passed down the Kyo-nui to the present day. As the third generation, Shingo and Ayumu Nagakusa would like to learn from the great predecessors and history, and expand the framework of traditional Japanese embroidery to art and Japanese culture, and seek the connection with modern society.

What we can do
What we can do is all kinds of work related to embroidery, which is done by hand.
In particular, we have a special technique in the traditional embroidery, called “Kyo-nui.”
Kyo-nui mainly embroiders on silk fabrics using silk threads. All processes are done by hand. Other than silk, we have embroidered on special materials such as leather, paper, and PVC.
With that skills, we have done special collaborations with various brands and embroidered on watch belts, shoes, scarves, dresses, ties, plastic bags, etc. We also take part in the co-creation of artworks with various artists.
All of our work is done by hand, therefore, it is expensive and time-consuming.
However, the value of our work is to remain as an option for the products and works to be the only ones in the world.
We also use this technique to play, teach and pass on.
If your request is for an embroidery technique, we will work on it for you within your budget.
